The "well rounded" UX Degree Program

A key difference between this program and many other HCI masters degrees that are offered is its second focus on the business side of design. Students will learn project management, accounting, marketing, business communication, how to create a business plan and financial decision making. This will enable graduates to move into roles managing user experience design, establishing a consultancy that provides UXD support or launching a new enterprise in which the product is primarily UX design-based. General Degree Requirements
The Masters of Business and Science degree program consists of 8 courses in UX and related science electives, and 19 credits in business. The business requirements include courses in finance, communication & leadership, marketing, and other electives.
Employment Opportunities in UX
There are many employment opportunities with the skill sets obtained with this degree that range from information technology, medical products, web design, communication products, media, financial services and beyond. User Experience Design is one of the top professions in the US.

Visual Design

VISUAL DESIGN

This immersive course will introduce students to some of the fundamental principles, practices, and processes of visual design in the context of sound user experience disciplines. By approaching the subject from a business and brand perspective, students explore and experience the merits of visual design, with a clear understanding of its real-world applications. Prerequisite: None.

User Evaluation

DESIGN INNOVATION

This course examines the theory and practice of promoting and managing design thinking and innovation in the sciences and technology. The course explores successful use of design thinking frameworks for the design of strategies, funding techniques, business models, risks, and reducing barriers for introducing break-through products and services.  The course will place particular emphasis on the importance and role of experimentation and learning from failure, as well as provide access to a series of tools that can help an organization decide whether, or not, to continue with a specific development process.

Customer Experience Management

PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Learn about the field of Product Design,  with emphasis on three main areas: marketing, product design, and manufacturing. Learn the end-to-end process of product design—from identification of opportunities to understanding target markets and the needs of the end-user, and how to create product forms and functions to both meet those needs and elicit a positive experience. Study the essential elements of the supply chain.

Contextual Therory

CONTEXTUAL THEORY

This course provides an overview of basic qualitative data gathering techniques. You will learn about the reserach techniques used in UX, how to choose among them for the problem you are trying to solve and how to apply the results of your data capture to building thoroughly viable, engaging, and usable design. Prerequisite: User Experience Design
